JEFF HUNT

HPKD co-founder Jeff Hunt has more than 15 years of experience as an attorney and executive in intellectual property (IP) law, litigation, and technology licensing. Jeff assists clients in protecting and licensing their technologies and brand assets. His work centers around implementing IP strategies, resolving disputes over infringement of IP assets, licensing transactions, and preparing applications for patents and trademarks.

Jeff previously served as the director of licensing and acquisitions for Times Three Wireless, a licensor of wireless technologies. Before joining that company, Jeff practiced litigation for seven years in the Austin office of Moore Landrey LLP. His first position practicing IP law was with Michael, Best & Friedrich in 1992.

He practiced IP law with partner Bill Parks in the Hulsey Hunt & Parks firm before co-founding HPKD. Jeff previously served as Director of Licensing and Acquisitions for Times Three Wireless (TTW), a licensor of wireless technologies. Before joining TTW, Jeff practiced litigation for 7 years in the Austin office of litigation boutique Moore Landrey LLP. His first position practicing IP law was with Michael, Best & Friedrich from 1992-96.

ATTORNEY PROFILE

Jeff assists entrepreneurs, tech companies, investors, and inventors with legal strategies for protecting their technologies and brands from unauthorized use and copying. This typically includes: preparation applications for patents and trademarks; management of trade secrets; licensing transactions and agreements; due diligence evaluation of IP assets; and resolution of intellectual property disputes. Jeff represents clients in infringement litigation for:

  • patents, trademarks, and copyrights
  • secret and unfair competition litigation, and
  • assertive patent licensing and patent infringement litigation

Jeff’s clients have included companies in the fields of: financial technology, energy exploration and production, heavy mechanical equipment, software, computing and networks, communications, wireless, video processing, surveillance, medical devices, healthcare, materials science, chemicals, textiles, marine products, water processing, printing, and consumer products.

Jeff is licensed to practice law in Texas and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He holds degrees in law, business, and engineering from Vanderbilt University.

He enjoys meandering along Austin’s trails, usually the Butler Hike and Bike Trail around Lady Bird Lake in Austin. He plays poker, golf, and the occasional game of lawn tennis.  He is a movie buff who also likes reading and watching football.
