Artie Pennington is a founding partner of HPKD. Prior to the formation of this firm Artie spent seven years in patent preparation and prosecution, strategic patent portfolio development, assertive and defensive licensing, and litigation support. Much of this work involved supporting fabless startups and large semiconductor companies. This legal experience developed on top of Artie’s 21 years working in: semiconductor development, design, and consulting;  electronic design automation; software development and consulting; and related business management.

ATTORNEY PROFILE

In addition to working for several semiconductor companies, Artie was fortunate to join Synopsys, a Mountain View, CA based electronic design automation and IP company with offices in Austin TX, in the infancy of the growth of its engineering practice.  Prior to joining Synopsys, Artie worked in Motorola’s microprocessor design group, designing generations of the 88k and PowerPC family of microprocessors.

Artie regularly volunteers at the Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, providing pro-bono legal services across a wide range of legal practice areas to those who are unable to afford them. In addition to the practice of law, Artie’s interests include rock climbing and flying planes.
